Letting Go of the Need to Control

Surrendering to the need to control is probably one of the most difficult move one will make in his or her lifetime but in order for us to live it to the fullest the effort of realizing the beauty of surrendering is essential. It pays to take time to realize the following – That we do not have to be perfect to be somebody. We are already our own somebody armed with all the flaws that make us real and most of all assist us to grow further in life. That we do not have to be completely “fixed” in order to have other people and yourself approve of you. That we need to speak our minds in order to free our hearts from needless burden and give in to what we feel is right for us – be honest with one’s self that we indeed need something or someone and that time cannot be bought nor bargained. That we need to view life from a pay it forward perspective, an attitude of gratitude always pays off. That we need to learn to relax with activities with no guilt. That we need to get in touch with your hidden anger, forgive others and also yourself in the process – closure is vital.

The most fantastic things happen to people who believe and let go of their need to control things or matters at hand. You can definitely overcome weakness, faults, heartbreak and fear. Belief can change what appears to be an impossible situation. Belief unlocks the door to power beyond our imagination, but in order to believe one has to free one’s self from control and worry. It has been said that worry is the advanced interest paid on troubles that seldom happen. It has also been said that worry is like a rocking chair, always moving but it really gets us nowhere. Worry and control are things that can grip us and overpower us, never allow them to. It’s interesting to note that the word “worry” comes from an old English word that means “to choke or strangle.” Everyone knows how it feels to be choked and strangled so end the worrying and just believe that the best is already there for us to just receive, accept and take.

Life is a balance between what we can control and what we cannot. I am learning to live between effort and surrender. – Danielle Orner

There is a proverb that says that if we are facing in the right direction, all we have to do is keep on walking. Here are some points you need to know about that thing called control –

1- There is less energy exerted when we learn to surrender rather than control.

2- Control is rooted on fear that’s deep. Acknowledge that things you worry about might not even happen.

3- There is a specific goal we are attached in that results with control, sometimes this goal is what we seem to be sure to be best for us as if we always know what’s best. Trust that whatever comes your way is what the universe worked on getting to you, micro-managing it can be a pain and so let go and so you begin to surrender. And just how do you define surrender? It’s all about complete acceptance of what is and faith on what will be.

Sometimes questioning one’s self can be a lot of help, questions such as – What am I afraid will happen if I surrender the need to control?; Would letting go mean freedom for me? Be guided by these to help you loosen your grip.

Eckhart Tolle said “Always say yes to the present moment. Surrender to what is. Say ‘yes’ to life and see how life starts suddenly to start working for you rather than against you.”
